Mbare Academy humbled the Bulldogs of Churchill in the second Cup semi-final of the schools edition at the ongoing Spar International Sevens tournament at Harare Sports Club. Mbare Academy cruised to an easy win of 21-7 which came as a surprise to Churchill fans who missed yesterday’s games and thought the boys from Mbare were the underdogs. Arguably the best team in the schools edition of the tournament Mbare Academy find themselves in the cup final having suffered only one defeat (to Eaglesvale) along their way to the final.
Earlier in the day Eaglesvale played against Prince Edward in the first semi-final and lost 24-10. St John’s College proved to be too strong for Mabvuku registering a 31-0 score to go ahead to the bowl final. Hellenic faced Vainona in the other Bowl semi-final were they came out victors winning 33-5.
Mbare and Prince Edward will play for the top spot tomorrow while Churchill will face-off against Eaglesvale. Hellenic and St John’s College will meet in the 5th and 6th place play-off. Vainona and Mabvuku will both be hoping to register their first win of the tournament when they clash in the 7th and 8th place play-off.
