Despite drawing first blood, Falcon College found themselves trailing 18 – 14 at the interval. A late come back on Field 11 at Peterhouse would have been historic for the Esgodini boys but it was not to be as Peterhouse cruised to a hard-fought 35 – 28 victory at home.
From the 15:30 kick-off Falcon looked sharper and they got their reward by registering the first points of the encounter. Immediately Peterhouse responded and afterwards it was an exchange of penalty kicks between the two sides that kept the home fans on the edge of their seats. To their relief Peterhouse was leading 18 -14 when the referee blew his whistle for the half time break.
In the second session the hosts gained more control of the game with increased accuracy in their execution. 35 – 14 to Peterhouse was the score midway the second session. Two late converted tries from Falcon gave the hosts a scare but they managed to wade off the attack and held on for a 35 – 28 victory.
The two teams have another date in Esgodini later this term but that will only be for the bragging rights as it is a friendly fixture and its results will not contribute towards the league standings.
