Gateway’s poor run of form continued as Eaglesvale trampled all over them to register a massive 100-3 win at Eaglesvale on Saturday. This is the highest score posted so far this season in the two top leagues, the Super 8 and the Co-Ed.
The rivalry between the two schools used to make for competitive encounters but in recent years Gateway have offered little if any resistance against Eaglesvale. In one of their strongest years – 2007 – Eaglesvale registered a popular win against schoolboy rugby giants Prince Edward but failed to win the last match of the season at home against Gateway. That’s how good Gateway was. The second team score was not so different with Eaglesvale winning 102-5.
For the sake of the sport’s development in Zimbabwe, today we won’t shower praises on Eaglesvale but ask what is Gateway doing wrong or is it something they are not doing at all? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
In other Co-Ed league matches played Petra won 16-13 to Watershed at home while Lomagundi registered their third defeat in a row, going down 39-13 to Hillcrest in Mutare.
In the Super 8 Peterhouse Boys cruised to a comfortable 46-13 victory over Christian Brothers College in Bulawayo and maintain top position on the first team log table. Kyle College and Falcon College played out to a 21 all draw.
