St George’s College shot to top of the Super 8 1st XV log with their impressive 41-11 win over St John’s on Wednesday afternoon. In doing so the Harare school toppled Peterhouse Boys from the top of the log.
The boys from Marondera had enjoyed the top spot all season. Tomorrow afternoon Peterhouse clashes with Prince Edward in what has suddenly become a do-or-die match after Wednesday’s results. A win for Peterhouse Boys will push them up as this year’s Super 8 1st XV title winners.
The defending champions, St George’s will keep their fingers crossed and hope Prince Edward puts on a good show tomorrow in Marondera. A draw will bring Peterhouse up to 48 which is the same total for St George’s but the Harare school will win on points difference. Peterhouse have only lost one game this season in the league while The Tigers of Prince Edward lost two out of the five they played and drew one.
Prince Edward has not been in top form this year but will give their all tomorrow and with the encounter being the last one of the season, its bound to be a cracker. A win for Prince Edward will move them to position four on the log up from five were they now sit with 26 points.
Churchill is in third position with 36 points ahead of St John’s who have 33 points. Falcon College sits at six with 18 points. Two draws and 3 losses within seven points of the opposition pushed Falcon ahead of Kyle College who won one game and drew one out of the five they played. Christian Brothers College failed to win a single game this year and they anchor the log table at position eight with six points. See the detailed log table here.
