Boland Province suffered the wrath on the “unforgiving” Zimbabwean Water-polo Girls squad, going down 13-0 yesterday in
Port Elizabeth East London at the ongoing S.A Water-polo Championships.
On day 1 of the tourney Zimbabwe faced a tough Western Province A side and managed to register a 6-5 win. With the nerves settled a bit on the second day, the Sinead Cockcroft captained side went all out.
Boland had recorded a win against the Zimbabwe cricket Under 17 squad and were hoping to record a clean sweep against Zimbabwe as their girls jumped into the pool to face the Zimbabwean girls but it was not to be. Thirteen goals went past Boland during the match, which was the day’s opener, while Zimbabwe kept a clean sheet.
Zimbabwe’s second match of the day was agaisnt Kwa-Zulu Natal. Unlike Boland the girls from Zululand were no walkover but Zimbabwe managed to post an 8-5 win to stay table toppers for Pool A.
The team plays Central Gauteng B at 10:40 this morning before heading into the playoffs. We at SSN wish them well.
