2015 Provincial Swimming Championships On

As schools finish off their inter-house swimming galas, qualifying junior and senior school swimmers are entering a higher level of competition through Provincial galas with the hopes of making it to the national level and ultimately of representing Zimbabwe.

Manicaland kicked off their Provincial competitions last weekend (18-19 November) in Mutare and wrap up next Saturday,  28 November at Hillcrest College.  Meanwhile, Matabeleland Provincials run 25-28 November at the Bulawayo Municipal Pool which was refurbished for the Zone 5 Africa Games last year December.  Masvingo Province’s smaller meet will take place in two days, 28-29 November.  Mashonaland, which has a much larger contingent of competitive swimmers, will hold their Provincials sponsored by Quest Motors at Les Brown Pool over two weekends, 27-29 November and 4-6 December.

Those who top the races at the Provincial level will travel to Bulawayo for the National Championships taking place 18-22 February 2016 and Harare for the Junior National Championships 5-6 March.

The selected national team will represent Zimbabwe at the Level 1 and 2 championships in March in South Africa, as well as at the CANA Zone IV Championships in Mauritius in April.
