We thought we were finished with school sports until September as schools close today and tomorrow around the country for August holidays. However, not so, as Midlands Christian College (MCC) in Gweru will be the venue for the 2015 CHISZ Schools Boys Football Tournament this weekend, 7-9 August.
Beginning with matches at 9am on Friday, August 7, the three day tournament will start with match pools and then proceed to conclude with the final match by 10am on Sunday. Fifteen CHISZ schools are fielding U20 first teams for the tournament.
The tournament participants are: Falcon, Gateway, Goldridge, Hillcrest, Kyle, Lomagundi, Masiyephambili, hosts Midlands Christian, Peterhouse, Petra, St George’s, St John’s College, Southeastern, Watershed and Westridge.
Noticeably absent from this list is Christian Brothers College who recently won another soccer tournament at MCC and tied St John’s last weekend. The tournament promises to be electric after some end-of-term exciting soccer exchanges such as St John’s 1-0 victory over Falcon and the Peterhouse-Falcon clash the previous weekend.
