Arundel and Watershed on The Verge Of Golden Girls History

Golden Girls hosts, Arundel are through to the semi-finals of this year’s edition of the 37-year-old tourney. Their opponents in that first semi-final set for Sunday morning are Watershed College, last year’s winners of the Silver Girls contest.

An appearance in the final will be historic for both teams, but only one of them can go through to face either Chisipite or Peterhouse for the coveted trophy. Arundel has only won the Golden Girls Cup an underwhelming two times in 1994 and 2007. After a dry decade of poor showings in their own tournament, it seems like they have turned it around this year and are determined to go all the way.

Standing in Arundel’s way is a resurgent Watershed side. They have been on a steady rise winning Silver Girls last year and coming to contest strongly for Golden Girls this year.

Having enjoyed a spectacular season, Chisipite came into the tournament as firm favorites and have not stuttered so far, only conceding one goal en route to the semis. However, knockout sports have very little respect for the form book, and a Peterhouse win in the second semi-final won’t be much of an upset.

Hillcrest and Eaglesvale will lock heads in the first Silver Girls semi-final on Sunday morning as well. The much hyped about Mabelreign Girls side will be hoping for a win in the second Silver Girls semi against Midlands Christian College.
