Churchill Continue Unbeaten & St John’s Registers First Season Win

The Churchill Bulldogs continued their unbeaten run on Saturday with an easy 33-10 victory over the Tigers of Prince Edward School.

The Tigers will only have themselves to blame for their humbling loss on Saturday. Besides being bullied in the scrums and being outpaced out wide by the Bulldogs, the Tigers were full of mistakes. Line outs were literally thrown to the ground, knock-ons were in excess, tackles were missed and kicks pulled wide. In short, nothing worked for the Tigers.

In contrast to Prince Edward’s poor showing, Churchill was clinical in attack and solid in defence. They hardly got a thing wrong except for their discipline at the breakdown. Bulldogs skipper and flank, Zvikomborero Muzorewa was yellow carded just moments into the second half and left his team depleted allowing Prince Edward to score their second consolation try.

Churchill’s victory on Saturday marks the third time they have won against Prince Edward this year. The victory on Nigel Philip being the biggest. Ironically, Prince Edward’s last victory against Churchill which was last season at the Harare trials was also a 33-10 victory.

St John’s Win In Masvingo

The St John’s Rams started their year on a very good note, registering a hard fought win against Falcon College at the Dairibord Schools Rugby festival. However when the season started the Rams found the going tough and failed to register victories. On the road this last Saturday, Scott Gray’s men turned the tables and won 24-21 against Kyle College. It will be interesting to follow their progress through the last half of the season to see if they can build up their form from here onwards.

Dragons No Match For Kings

Being on the road is tough. Winning on the road is even tougher. Peterhouse worsened the troubles of being on the road for St George’s this weekend handing them 39-00 drubbing on Field 11.
