As exam season comes to a close and school sports are winding up the year as well, are you looking for a fun event to stay fit for a good cause? Next Saturday (28 November 2015) Innovate High Performance Center is hosting the Movember Mile, a relay event that asks each participant to run or jog or even walk a minimum of one mile (1,6 km). Relay teams of a minimum of two and maximum of four participants will cover the full distance of 4 miles (6,4 km), breaking it in one mile increments. Several school cross country teams and running clubs are planning on participating.
The Movember Mile at Innovate HPC will start at 730am on the 28th, with registration set at $20 per team. All proceeds with benefit the Cancer Association of Zimbabwe.
Movember, otherwise known as “No Shave November”, is a movement that started in Australia in 2004 where men would not shave for the month of November as a way of raising awareness about prostate and testicular cancers that have increasingly plagued men. As part of this awareness involves encouraging the adoption of a healthier lifestyle, the Movember Mile is now a global event where people of all ages run one mile with the proceeds benefiting the prevention of cancer.
Keeping with the spirit of the event, we expect to see a lot of drawn or grown mustaches at Innovate at the Zimbabwean edition of the Movember Mile.
