Team Zimbabwe had an impressive finish today at the 2015 ATU Sprint Triathlon African Cup taking place at Buffalo City, near East London, South Africa today (1 March 2015). Zimbabwe’s eighteen person team are bringing two silver and the three bronze medals as they travel back to Harare.
St John’s College student Drew Williams, who competed in the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, earned a silver in the U19 boys’ category. Teammate Sasha Gemmill also earned a silver in the U13 girls’ category. Rebecca Duncan of Chisipite Senior earned bronze in the Girls U19 category while Hellenic Academy’s cross-country star Gabby de Chassart earned bronze in the girls U17 event. Tyler Martin won bronze in the U13 boys’ race.
The U17 and U19 girls’ and boys’ course was a 750m swim, a 20 km bike race and a 5 km run, while those medaling in the U13 category competed on a course of a 400m swim followed by a 10km bike race and a 2.5 km run
